Lacrosse recreational league overview

Welcome to CDC Boys Lacrosse!

CDC Lacrosse is focused on providing an instructional program that matriculates the lacrosse skills of each participant, while emphasizing fun, fair play, and good sportsmanship. Our hope is that we can be a positive influence for each player, and translate these experiences into positive attributes that resonate in their character in the future.

AGE DIVISIONS-BOYS

1/2 Grade Rec – Unlike in past years, this year the 1/2 group will be boys only and will play in full lacrosse gear (Helmet, chest pad, gloves, arm pads, mouth guard, athletic cup). Practices will be held on Sundays only at River Road.  The goal of the 1st-2nd grade league is to introduce the basic concepts of throwing, catching, cradling, dodging, and shooting.  The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to proper instruction of basic lacrosse skills.  The second 30 minutes will be dedicated to a controlled game simulated scrimmage. Games will be 6v6.

3/4 Grade Rec – The 3/4 group will have two practices a week and will play in-house games on Sundays at River Road. Practices will be Tuesdays at Claybourne Fields (Pittman Fields) and Thursdays at River Road. Games will be small-sided designed for maximum touches and feature positional play.

3/4 Grade Select – This year we will offer an “introduction to travel” for our 3/4 group. The Select players will be chosen by an evaluation process in March. These athletes will compete in both the rec league Sunday games and approx. 5 Saturday Indiana Youth Lacrosse Association games in the surrounding area. There will be an additional cost for the Select program.

5/6 Grade Rec – The 5/6 group will have two practices a week and will play in-house games on Sunday at River Road. Practices will be Tuesdays at River Road and Thursdays at Claybourne Fields (Pittman Fields). Games will be designed around the number of participants to maximize touches and feature positional play.

5/6 Grade Pups Travel – Beginning in 5th grade, CDC offers travel opportunities for athletes. The 5/6 Pups will play in the Indiana Youth Lacrosse Association league as well as approx. 3 tournaments (1 likely out of state). Tryouts for the 5/6 Pups team will be OCT 27-28, 2020 at Carmel HS (MORE INFO TO FOLLOW).

7/8 Grade Hounds Travel – CDC is proud of the many State Championships we have won over the years with our 7/8 Hounds teams.  The 7/8 Hounds will play in the Indiana Youth Lacrosse Association league as well as approx. 3 tournaments (1 likely out of state). Tryouts for the 7/8 Hounds team will be OCT 27-28, 2020 at Carmel HS (MORE INFO TO FOLLOW).

No experience is necessary. In the spring of 2016, we began a clinic-based, high repetition skill development and scrimmage practice model.  We continue to see great improvement for all players at all ages.  We have outstanding travel coaches who will teach new coaches the basics and be available for the first weeks of practice and for ongoing consultation.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

The decision as to whether fields are playable rests with the CDC Staff or their representative.

No outdoor practice or game shall begin with a STORM WARNING (Thunderstorm/Tornado) in effect at the start time of said practice/game.

Mandatory 30 minute wait when lightning and/or thunder is observed. Fields must be cleared. This 30 minute wait will restart at each observed lightning and/or thunder.
