CDC Travel Softball-Tryouts Announced

8u: July 8 from 5:30 - 7 pm 
9u/10u: July 8 from 7-8:30 pm
11u/12u/13u: July 9 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm

2024-2025 Pups Travel Softball Tryouts

The Pups Softball travel program offers an opportunity for players to improve their softball development through a competitive travel program.  Advantages of the Pups program include: 

·     Interaction with CHS coaching staff and current high school players

·     Local indoor / outdoor facilities right in Carmel

·     Balanced travel requirements – most tournaments are within 90 minutes of Carmel

·     More opportunity to play other sports       

Pups Softball is made up of our Gold (travel) and Blue (developmental) teams. Blue teams play Indy Alliance softball doubleheaders on Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring/summer with some winter training available. Gold teams play travel tournaments with year-round training opportunities.

Blue teams play combined ages: 

8u: 2016 and 2017

10u: 2014 and 2015

12u: 2012 and 2013

Gold teams are designated by the following birth years for 24-25:

8u: 2016 and 2017

9u: 2015

10u: 2014

11u: 2013

12u: 2012

13u: 2011

To register, go to www.carmeldadsclub.org and click on the Travel Softball tab. You may also log into your account and register for Pups Softball Tryouts. Tryout fees will be refunded for players that do not make the team. Registration closes July 5th.

Players are evaluated for Gold and Blue teams at the same time. Tryouts are held at the Cherry Tree Softball Complex.

The Carmel Dads' Club offers a fun, challenging and competitive environment for advanced players who are ready to hone in on their softball skills. We will focus on player development and improving each participant’s fundamentals and knowledge of the game.

Lady Pups Travel Softball Age Levels

Blue teams play combined ages.

TRYOUTS

Tryouts will be announced in May each year.

SEASON DURATION 

Training for Pups Softball will be held outdoors in August-October, indoor winter training will run January-March and outdoor training resumes from April-July.  Players participating in another in season sport should plan on attending off season training as their schedule permits. The main season for travel softball is September- October and March- July.

TEAMS  

Our Gold teams function as our “A” teams and our Blue teams function as our “B” teams though we often only have one team for each age group. Teams consist of 10-12 players. 

RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM GAMES PER SEASON
Most teams will play about 40-60 games (varies by age level) and will practice twice a week. Many of these games take place as doubleheaders or multigame tournaments that can consume an entire weekend.

PRACTICES 

In season practices are held twice per week at Cherry Tree Softball Complex, Prather Park (formerly known as River Road Park), or Clay, Carmel, Creekside Middle School Fields and winter training at the Aletto Family Sports Center.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

The decision as to whether fields are playable rests with the CDC Staff or their representative.

No outdoor practice or game shall begin with a STORM WARNING (Thunderstorm/Tornado) in effect at the start time of said practice/game.

Mandatory 30 minute wait when lightning and/or thunder is observed. Fields must be cleared. This 30 minute wait will restart at each observed lightning and/or thunder.
