STING TRAVEL SOFTBALL TRYOUTS

The Sting is the Carmel Dads' Club competitive travel softball program.

This is an elite program founded with the express purpose of fostering player development,

leadership skills, community building, and teaching the game of softball to young ladies in

an environment promoting sportsmanship and fun.  This program offers the opportunity

for those who have the ability and desire to play winning softball at a high

level.

 Sting Travel Softball program will be holding player evaluations for the 2011 season for the following age groups:

10u (born in 2000 or 2001)

12u (born in 1998 or 1999)

WHO:  All girls living in Carmel or Carmel Clay Township.  You must reside in Carmel   or within Carmel Clay Township to play for this program.

WHEN: July 14, 2010   

WHERE: The Cherry Tree Softball Complex.  This complex will be the home for the 2011 Sting program.

HOW:  Show up no later than five thirty to register.  Players will be evaluated on their throwing, running, hitting, and fielding. Bring your glove and a positive attitude.

• Practices will start in the late fall.  The fall practice schedule will be light.
• The program will take a brief break during the months of November and December.
• The program will begin practicing indoors in January. 
• The program will move outdoors in March or April of 2011.
• The competitive season for travel softball runs from April through July of each year.
• There are occasionally opportunities to play in indoor tournaments in March.
• This is a competitive softball program.
• The program will practice two to three nights per week during the competitive season.
• Cost is estimated to be approximately $ 750.00 per player which is expected to cover the basic uniform purchase and tournament fees. 
• The player fees will be collected in installments of 250.00.
• If offered a position with the Sting program a player is required to pay a 250.00 commitment fee immediately upon accepting a position with the team. 
• This commitment fee serves as a player’s first installment toward player fees.  This amount is non refundable.
• Player’s may incur additional fees to pay for indoor practice space at a facility such as Trinity or RoundTrippers.

You must participate in a competitive evaluation in order to even be considered for this program.  Requests for an alternative try out must be made in writing to the General Commissioner for Travel Softball Brian Poindexter.  Those requests must be e mailed to bpoindextercdc@gmail.com no later than noon on 1 July 2010.  It is within the discretion of the General Commissioner to schedule an alternative date for an evaluation if the player has been injured or is otherwise unable to attend.  Those alternative evaluations must be completed before 14 July.
