Carmel Dads' Club
Registered Sex Offender Policy

We are fortunate to live in a great community such as Carmel. Unfortunately, no community is immune from child predators. With this in mind, the Carmel Dads' Club has implemented the following policies regarding registered sex offenders:

1. All coaches and assistant coaches must submit to a criminal background check prior to coaching. Any individual who has been convicted of or pled guilty to criminal charges (other than minor offenses) will not be permitted to be a coach or an assistant coach.

2. All team members will be notified of the official coach and any assistant coaches for the team. No practices are to be held unless at least two adults are present, one of which is the coach or an assistant coach who passed the criminal background check.

3. All practices must be held at the times and places designated or approved by the Carmel Dads' Club. No practices are to be held at a personal residence.

4. The Carmel Dads' Club does not endorse team parties at the personal residence of any coach or team member. Attendance at team parties is at the risk of each participant.

5. The Carmel Dads' Club does not have the resources to conduct, and will not conduct, criminal background checks on the parents of the children participating in the Dads' Club. However, if the Dads' Club becomes aware of a parent that is a registered sex offender, the Dads' Club will inform the coach of the team on which the child of the registered sex offender plays and instruct the coach to not let the parent assist in any way with practices or games.

6. There are a number of websites that provide lists of registered sex offenders. The following are two examples: www.familywatchdog.us and www.indianasheriffs.org/default.asp.

7. Parents are encouraged to report any violations of the foregoing policies immediately to the Carmel Dads' Club.

These policies are being implemented for the safety of the children participating in the Carmel Dads' Club. However, no set of policies will guarantee complete safety. There is no substitute for parental supervision and parents are strongly encouraged to attend all practices and games. Feel free to contact the Carmel Dads' Club if you have any questions regarding these policies.
