YOUR CHILD IS REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN LACROSSE STICK. Please make sure your child has or purchases an approved lacrosse stick. We want to instruct the players using the equipment that will be used in competition starting in the 3rd grade. Empire Lacrosse is a great resource for you. They will equip your child with the right stick.
Although physical contact and stick checking are not allowed, we still require that children wear the following equipment. · Eye protection (REQUIRED) o Girls can use traditional girls lacrosse goggles. These can be purchased at Empire Lacrosse on 96th street or Dick%u2019s Sporting Goods. o Boys can use court goggles or girl lacrosse goggles. These can be purchased at Empire Lacrosse on 96th street or Dick%u2019s Sporting Goods. · Mouth Guard (REQUIRED) o All players must wear a protective mouth guard. These can be purchased at Empire Lacrosse or Dick%u2019s Sporting Goods. · Helmets (NOT PERMITTED) o Boys are not allowed to wear helmets. · Cleats (OPTIONAL) o Cleats will allow your children better footing on the grass, especially during wet weather. · Gloves (OPTIONAL) o Girls do not require lacrosse gloves at any level. However, they do sell gloves for girls. They are used mostly for cold weather. o Boys do require protective gloves starting in the 3rd grade. If your child is planning on playing lacrosse in the 3rd grade, we strongly recommend that your child wear gloves as soon as possible. The use of gloves takes some adjustment. Introducing the sport while wearing gloves is recommended. Our season starts on Sunday, April 18th at the Claybourne fields. Play begins promptly at 3:00 PM. Please have your child ready with the goggles on, mouth pieces in and stick in hand. Please bring their jersey each week. We will go approximately 90 minutes to allow the (5) rotations. We will only meet once a week. |
